FLANZ CONFERENCE 2024 Sponsorship Opportunities
In 2024 FLANZ will host the biennial FLANZ conference from 26-28 August. We invite you to support us as we gather to share ideas and showcase recent innovations and developments in flexible learning and teaching.
Sponsors are critical to the success of the FLANZ conference. We would like to thank you for taking the time to read and consider this proposal.
About FLANZ (Flexible Learning Association of New Zealand)
FLANZ is the national body for flexible learning in Aotearoa New Zealand: we are committed to making ako accessible to all. What makes us unique is our focus on understanding and improving the ways technologies are used to support effective education, when teachers and learners are separated by space or time, such as in distance, online, and blended learning, in open and flexible education settings. We have expertise across a wide spectrum of educational activities, and we apply this expertise to advocate for the field, support members, and provide advice when requested. Visit https://flanz.org.nz/ to read more about our events, activities and the make up of the current executive committee.
FLANZ’s vision is enacted through four strategic goals:
- To challenge and advance current thinking and practice about education.
- To build and maintain a vibrant community within New Zealand and members overseas.
- To make a contribution to research and practice.
- To connect with national and international agencies and professional bodies.
We work towards these goals through our conference, webinars, and conversations, and , our association’s online publication, the Journal of Open, Flexible and Distance Learning, our membership, website, newsletter, and social media engagement. We promote professional pathways, award scholarships, and develop stakeholder relationships.

Conference Theme – Evolving practice in flexible learning
In keeping our learners integral in the teaching-learning process, our theme Evolving Practice in Flexible Learning reflects our rapidly evolving environment and calls for flexibility to meet the diverse needs of our learners. Whether they are evolving spaces, methods, pathways, strategies, approaches, technologies or pedagogies, having the flexibility embraces diversity and inclusivity. The conference is an opportunity to join us to share expertise, insights and research findings, and being face-to-face it is also a great networking opportunity.
We will be welcoming abstract submissions which fall under the following streams: 1. Evolutionary practice, flexible methods and pathways.
2. Technologies and models
3. Professional development & training
4. Sustainable practices
5. Diversity, inclusivity and equity
We will invite authors to self-declare the streams they align to and will consider all topics with submissions associated with them.
Conference Aim
To provide a forum where delegates can explore the rapidly evolving environment of flexible teaching and learning. While the event will be streamed via Zoom, we plan to encourage a face-to-face event to enhance networking and sharing opportunities.
Our conference showcases practice, theory, and research in the broad field of flexible learning. Delegates will explore how digital technologies are changing and how emerging tools can be harnessed for learning. We will celebrate and share stories from colleagues and use these to help us become better educators, learners, and mentors.
We will explore the then, the now the what next, and the how we can best bring it to education using the different mediums that we have available.

Conference Dinner: Caluzzi’s Drag Cabaret
The legendary Caluzzi Cabaret is an unforgettable dining experience. Award-winning Drag Queen waitresses will have you laughing from the moment you step through the door and will provide you with excellent and personal service. With a delicious and carefully selected menu, fabulous shows, hilarious comedy, and dazzling costumes (not to mention the impressive stilettos!), you can’t go past Caluzzi for Auckland’s ultimate dinner entertainment experience.
This unique and fabulous dining experience immediately captured the hearts of Aucklanders and grew to become one of New Zealand’s most fun nights out. Caluzzi’s success can be put down to one thing – THE GIRLS. With amazing performances, friendly service, and laugh-out-loud comedy, the Caluzzi girls are helpful and approachable and will make your experience a night to remember.
Kita Mean and Anita Wigl’it are the exceptionally proud owners of Caluzzi! After having hosted and produced the Warner Brothers TV show ‘House of Drag’ (2018, 2019), in 2021 the pair went on to compete on the internationally acclaimed television series ‘Rupaul’s Drag Race Down Under’ where between the two of them they took the two winning titles of Miss Congeniality and Down Under Next Drag Superstar. Kita and Anita are in high demand all around the world, however, their favourite drag memories all come back to the outrageously fabulous nights spent at Caluzzi Cabaret.
Seats will be limited at this year’s dinner—be sure to book yours ASAP!
